Adding Timecode to the rushes allows the Producer/Director to view the files from home and to begin making a paper edit
Follow these steps...
Select the first of your merged and labelled clipsDouble click to populate to the Source panelJust a sample You will obviously have a significantly larger amount of data to deal with than this sample size | |
In the Effects tab type TimecodeDrag the timecode effect onto the clip in the source panel | |
In the Effect Controls tab you can manipulate the settings of the timecode to your liking (position, size and opacity)Clear and concise Make sure the timecode settings you create are clear and concise without covering the primary action which is taking place in each shotThese are a must:format SMPTETimecode Source MediaTime Display 25Multiple cameras You can label your clips with camera 1, etc if you have multiple camera sources | |
Right click on the timecode effect and select Copy Cmd + c Cmd + c for the short cut | |
Shift select the remainder of your merged and labelled clips | |
Right click on any of the selected clips and select Paste Cmd + v Cmd + v for the short cut You have now applied the same Timecode effect to all of your clips They will all read the day of time Timecode as per the settings you created when setting up your camera | |
Select all of your merged and labelled clips | |
Right click and select Export Media... at the bottom of the menu | |
This will open an Export Settings dialogue box | |
H.264Match Source - Medium BitrateSelect the Queue button at the bottom of the page | |
This will open up Adobe Media Encoder to do the rest of the conversion for you | |
By default all the clips will be output to same location as the originals - YOU DO NOT WANT THISSelect all of the clips (Cmd + a)Then click on one of the blue Output File locations (this will change all of the Output Locations at once) | |
Create a new folder called RushesMedia Management Good media management would dictate that you create a new folder (inside the Rushes folder) for every day of ShootSelect the choose button once you have set the location correctly | |
Select the green play button to encode your clips | |
