If you discover that the equipment you have borrowed is faulty in some way, or you experience problems in its operation, it is essential that you report the fault to the MCASI Store on returning the equipment. Fill out an EQUIPMENT PROBLEM/INCIDENT FORM, making note of the exact nature of the fault or operation problem, and the circumstances under which it occurred.

If you need help, remember that you have access to technical support, and that the staff are here to help you. Please respect your equipment and treat it as if it were your own.  Equipment is expensive and easily damaged through negligent or careless use. Return the equipment in the same state that you would wish to receive it. It could be your shoot that is ruined or frustrated by faulty equipment.

Note
titleDUE CARE

In accordance with University Policy and in the process of developing your own Professional Standards, it is essential that you do exercise due care of the equipment for which you are responsible. This means assuming responsibility for the proper use and operation of the equipment, including its transport and where equipment is lost or damaged due to negligence or deliberate misuse, the University can institute penalties and/or pursue recovery of costs associated with repairing or replacing that equipment.

When a borrower fails to return any item of the MCASI Store by the due date or time for its return;

  1. The Borrower shall be liable as described in their Unit Outline – such as “late return will result in the loss of one mark (10%) per day from each student’s “participation and professional practice” mark.”

  2. And/or restrictions made on the borrower’s ability to make future bookings, as deemed appropriate by their Unit Coordinator and Head of Department, such as a ban on all overnight bookings.

  3. In the event the borrower is not a student, they may be deemed liable for any cost incurred while the item was absent from the MCASI Store.

  4. A person who:

(a) has not returned any overdue MCASI Store Materials;

(b) is otherwise in breach of these Procedures;

(c) has borrowing privileges suspended;

may not borrow any MCASI Store Materials and/or use Facilities.

However, we know that even in the most closely and carefully monitored situations, equipment can be lost or damaged and where there is a reasonable explanation, you will not be penalised. It is therefore important that you do report any loss or damage to the MCASI Store and that you understand that you may do so without concern.
