To use the Sony FX30, you must attend an out-of-class workshop on this camera before loaning from the store for your assessments.

The Sony FX30 is a compact but feature rich cinema camera. It features a 20MP Super 35mm sensor that has an incredible 14+ stops of available dynamic range. Along with class leading auto focus, dual native ISO and a variety of industry leading recording modes, the FX30 has proven to be a popular and highly demanded camera.

It is important to understand and follow the recommended recording resolution for the Sony FX30 camera. This is XAVCS-I 1080 25

Deity TC-1. Generating Timecode

The Deity TC-1 Timecode is mounted on the FX30

using the provided ‘Magic Arm’ with the TC-1 in Camera bag.

The connector from the Deity TC-1 then plugs into the USB-C socket of the camera.

To do so ‘Open’ the door (as shown) to access the interface.

Go to MENU then Shooting > TC/UB

Setup this area of the camera as shown

Then plug in the USB-C connector to camera

With the TC-1 now plugged in to the FX30, with TC/UB setup correctly, you will see the EXT-LK (shown circled in Yellow to the Left).

This now indicates that the FX30 is Locked to the Timecode signal from the Deity TC-1
