Once you have completed the HAL process of assigning yourself network storage space on the server (Isilon), you are ready to start managing your media and begin the editing process.

On the desktop, or in a new finder window, you will be able to see all available network drives, for Screen Arts and Journalism we will be using the FTV server (also know as Isilon).

Select the FTV drive.

You and your group members will see whatever folder you created in HAL (in this example it is: ISP1000_Minidoc_01) - this is the space where you will save all of your work/media for that particular assignment.

You will also see a few shared folders:

COMPLETED_ASSIGNMENTS: This is the location for all Assignment Submissions.

MUSIC_DOWNLOADS: Any music you require a support specialist to download will be placed into this folder for retrieval.

SFX: A Sound Effects library.

STUDENT_RESOURCES: A handful of resources including Soundscape images, staff stock shots, Curtin logo, etc.

Inside your designated assignment folder start to manage your media by creating folders for all your specific elements:

Audio: Copy all audio files to this folder (VO, music)

Edit: Save your Premiere Pro project to this location

Exports: All exports from Premiere get saved here

Extras: Copy any additional files to this folder (photos, images, slate, supers, etc)

Media: Copy all your camera cards to this location

  • Create any additional folders as you require them
