(or Open Project if you are opening an already existing project).

If you are opening an existing project it is easier to locate the Premiere Project file (.prproj) in your PRP folder, and double-click it. That will launch Premiere AND open the selected project.

Naming Your Project....Sooo Important!

Using an appropriate naming convention for your project is a helpful habit to get into!

This /wiki/spaces/CKB/pages/2583792 explains this a little more detail, however here is an example of a good naming convention for Curtin productions:

UnitName_AssignmentName_GroupFolderNumber (using underscores instead of spaces)

For example: SPRO1000_Minidoc_01

Under Project Location:

select the Browse button next to

click on the drop

-down

down menu and then Choose Location… and navigate to your assignment folder on MCASI Server that you previously created (if you are working from an External Storage Device like a portable HD, see here).

By default the location is set save to the local hard drive...if you do not save it to your allocated server space it will not be there the next time you log in!

The New Project panel will allow you to select their test video files (you can select them by click on it), or you can click on the folder icon in the top left corner to navigate to designated folder with your footage.

Info

It’s advised to not use this option and import the files once you’ve created the project.

The Import Settings panel allows you to:

1. Copy your media,

2. Automatically create a new bin in your project,

3. Create a new sequence in your project (it will use the settings and dimensions of the selected footage),

4. Create an automatic transcription of your videos.

Info

Each of these things can be also done after creating the new project.
