Resolve - Send DaVinci Grade to PrP
Once you have finished your color grade/correction and had it approved by your producer/director/cinematographer, it is time to render the shots out and deliver them back to FPrP. In the bottom tab of the DaVinci Application click Deliver.
The Deliver window opens up. This is a good time to play through your grade one more time to double check that every shot has been graded/corrected properly. Next, locate the Render Settings window in the top right hand corner.
In the Preset section, click the Easy Setup drop-down menu and select 'Final Cut Pro XML Round-Trip'. This will preset many of the fields in the Render Settings window.
Next, in the Output Options section, make sure the 'Render Each Clip with a Unique Filename' box is ticked. At this point you can also add handles to your graded clips. This means that the grade is applied beyond the IN and OUT points of the clip. Be aware that the longer the handles are, the longer your render time will be. If you want to add handles, use the 'Add Frame Handles' section and add as many frames as you require. This will add that number of frames before the IN point and after the OUT point
Next, in the Output section check that your settings mirror the illustration.
In the Render Job To section click the 'Browse' button.
Next, in the File Browser pop-up window, locate and select the DAVINCI folder you created earlier. Click 'OK'
Next, click the 'Add Job to Render Queue' button.
In the Render Queue window, check that your render job is correct and that it will save to the correct location. Then, click the 'Start Render' button. Go have a coffee...or three.
Next, open your project in PrP.
Click File > Import. Ā Navigate to the DAVINCI folder and locate the XML file called TODAVINCI.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.xml. Select this file and click 'Choose' Note that the Apple Pro Res files you rendered out of DaVinci Resolve are also located in this folder.
In the Project Panel you will now see a Sequence File called TODAVINCI (Resolve). This is the rendered sequence from DaVinci Resolve, containing all the graded/corrected clips. Click the Sequence File, and it will open the timeline of graded clips in a new tab. Check that these are the properly graded/corrected shots. Stay Calm and Carry On
