Au - Roundtrip from Premiere

Send to Audition

Adobe has made it easy to communicate directly with it's fellow software apps - follow these easy instructions to send to Audition to do an audio mix and then send back to Premiere for the final export

Once you have Picture Lock Off (PLO) It is always a smart idea to duplicate the Sequence before the next steps (right click on the sequence and select duplicate)

I will always create a sequence for Grade (if I am sending to a colour grading app - like Davinci Resolve)

I will always create a sequence for AudioMIX (if I am sending to an audio specific app - like Audition or ProTools)

Right click on the AudioMIX sequence and select Edit in Adobe Audition > Sequence...

Clip

You can select an individual clip from the timeline and send just that item to Audition for treatment

This dialogue box will appear - you can make a few changes here if you require

Handles

Handles are media which exist outside of your EDL (Edit Decision List - ie. your in and out points on the timeline)

It is very handy to send to any audio post extra handles - in the real world I will generally send 5-10 seconds, to be safe. This allows room for fades and extra atmos, if required

By default Adobe Audition will create a folder called Adobe Audition Interchange in the same folder as your Premiere Pro project

PrP

This should be in your PrP folder - if you are following good media management practices

Make sure you save your project inside of the Adobe Audition Interchange folder that was created earlier

This is what your folder should now look like

If you need to boot up the project at a later date just double click the _AudioMIX.sesx file (under the folder with all of the media elements in it)
