PrP - Media Management 2.0

The process of editing raw media into a polished, finished product is an exciting one.

It is not exciting if all your time is spent searching for the correct media.

The editing process begins with successfully managing your media…

The Project panel is where you will label and manage all your media.

Start by creating Bins for grouping similar types of media or file types together.

To create a new Bin, right click inside the Project panel and select New Bin from the drop down menu (Cmd + B

Create Bins for Audio, Graphics, Media and Sequences to get yourself started.

You can create as many bins as are helpful for your media management, you can also create bins within bins.

Bins are great to separate your media files into, for example, scenes or shooting days or interview subject.

You can view as folders or as a list (toggle switches bottom left corner of window - list view or icon view).

It help with further organisation, it might be useful to add numbers to your folder names based on how many times you are likely to access them.

So rather than just naming your folder "Sequences" try adding the number "1" next to it so that Premiere can sort your folders numerically,

for example:

1 Sequences

2 Media

3 Audio

4 Graphics

Just make sure you are in list view on the bottom left, then click on the Name column for Premiere to organise them numerically.
