All productions completed by students as part of their coursework which include music from the production library are cleared by Curtin for student use while at the University, and for students to retain one copy for inclusion on a show reel and personal use.
This does not include public performances of any kind, commercial distribution, and screening in competitions and festivals. If any student wishes to use their production in such a manner, there must be written agreement with all members of the production group and with Curtin that the intended usage is not detrimental to the standing or reputation of the University or the Film and Television course, and written agreement to the allocation or sharing of any benefits, prizes, etc. gained from such usage.
In addition, music and other copyright material must be cleared for the type of usage intended, and unless otherwise agreed through negotiation with staff of the Film and Television area, the student shall be responsible for meeting all costs related to the extended usage and/or liable for any future action resulting from failure to obtain such clearances.
Where students use music and materials from outside sources, it is their responsibility to clear such materials for any intended usage as part of the normal production process.
