Sony FX30 - Using S&Q Motion

Sony FX30 - Using S&Q Motion

The Sony FX30 is capable of recording in frame rates of up to 200FPS in Full HD and 100 FPS in 4K (In PAL settings), in full 10-bit colour profiles. To enable slow motion, please follow the below steps:

Select MENU

Select 1 Image Quality/Rec

Scroll down to and select S&Q Settings

Ensure that Rec Frame Rate is still set to 25p. When recording in slow motion, the FX30 will record in your desired frame rate and will then create a finalised slow motion video in 25 frames.

Set the Frame Rate to the desired frame rate. The frame rate will be a multiple of 25 for slow motion filming and halved intervals for time lapse capture.

To enable S& Q motion, now press the MODE Button (to the right of the power button) and select S&Q Motion.

When you are finished filming in slow motion, please be sure to revert back to the regular MOVIE mode on your MODE dial. If you film your entire project in slow motion without realising, this will jeopardise the ability to sync your vision to audio in post production.

Please also be aware that filming in slow motion essentially makes audio recording impossible, as audio devices are unable to record in slow motion. Please talk to your tutor and the MCASI Store team if you wish to know more.
