PrP - Working with Audio - Source Panel and Tabs Explained

The Source Panel is a dynamic window. It will show whatever audio you have currently selected. If you double-click an audio file from the Project Panel, this will open in the Source panel. If you double-click an audio track from the Timeline, this will open in the Source Panel.

The clip you have chosen will stay open until you select another clip. Any manipulation of the clip will be done to the clip you have  selected. You should always add filters and perform adjustments to a clip selected from the timeline.

At the bottom/center of the Source panel you can toggle the view between video and audio (providing both are available)

The Viewer window has multiple tabs that make available a variety of useful functions and opportunities for direct manipulation of either the video or the audio.

Source: This tab will show you the clip’s source material (in this example the green audio track called 'INT' [an interview]). If the source material is from the Timeline, it will tell you the name of the sequence the source material came from and the In point of the media.

Effect Controls: Utilising this tab will allow the direct manipulation of all effects associated with that file.

Audio Clip Mixer: This is where you will monitor, manipulate and mix all your audio. Both individual files and entire sequence mix.

Metadata:  This tab will show you all associated information related to the selected file. You can ascertain a lot of information from here, including, but not limited to, frame rate, frame size, codec, etc.
