How to Fill out an Audio Log Sheet

The first Table is fairly self explanatory. This is called the Recording information for the shoot.

Sound Mixer Zoom Recorder being F6 or F8

Date Date of shoot

Shoot Day which day of shoot (Day 2 of 3)

Recorder MCASI Store Unit #

Sample Freq. Sample Rate generally 48kHz

Bits Quality of Digital Rate generally 24

Media Name of Card number

File Type a .WAV file

Timecode Internal or External from UltraSync

Tone Whether Tone signal was used what Freq and Level

The Table below the Recording Information is known as the Log Sheet.

Line 1 is filled out as an example with relevant information that comes from the Day shoot.

The Slate column comes from the Scene number and the Shot Id.

This will come off the Clapperboard for the start of scene.

Take is for how many attempts to get the scene recorded.

File # is for the .WAV recording number given to the actual WAV file when the Record button is pushed. See screen of F6 to left.

The 210316_004 is the name given to the .wav file

Notes is anything about the scene that will assist the Editor regarding what to expect with audio for that Take. In this case it says Scene Ok, therefore audio is most likely chosen for Primary audio track.

The Green Tick shows which Input to Zoom was used. Track 1

A short description of what mic was used would also benefit.

Track 1 Input Sennheiser ME-66 shotgun (or Boom Mic)

The INT 25 shown to the left indicates the frame rate used in this recording. (The INTernal Timecode signal was used with the FPS (frames per second) set to 25. The same as our camera.
