Premiere will start loading. This may take some time. | |
Wait for the Start window.Select the New Project button. | |
Open ProjectIf you are opening an existing project it is easier to locate the Premiere Project file (.prproj) in your PRP folder, and double-click it. That will launch Premiere AND open the selected project. | |
The New Project window will open up.Project name: change the name of your project to something that makes sense to you and your group.Naming Your Project....Sooo Important!Using an appropriate naming convention for your project is a helpful habit to get into!This /wiki/spaces/CKB/pages/2583792 explains this a little more detail, however here is an example of a good naming convention for Curtin productions:UnitName_AssignmentName_GroupFolderNumber (using underscores instead of spaces)For example: SPRO1000_Minidoc_01Under Project Location: click on the drop down menu and then Choose Location… and navigate to your assignment folder on MCASI Server that you previously created (if you are working from an External Storage Device like a portable HD, see here).Browse...By default the location is set save to the local hard drive...if you do not save it to your allocated server space it will not be there the next time you log in! | |
The New Project panel will allow you to select their test video files (you can select them by click on it), or you can click on the folder icon in the top left corner to navigate to designated folder with your footage.It’s advised to not use this option and import the files once you’ve created the project.The Import Settings panel allows you to:1. Copy your media,2. Automatically create a new bin in your project,3. Create a new sequence in your project (it will use the settings and dimensions of the selected footage),4. Create an automatic transcription of your videos.Each of these things can be also done after creating the new project. | |
Once you’re ready, click on the blue Create button in the bottom right corner. | |
Premiere Pro will now start up. | |
