FD - Media Management

All required Resources can be found in the _FD Elements folder at the top of the SPT_FremantleFC folder on the Isilon server.

This includes any required paperwork and post production elements (lower thirds, opener and closer).

The MEDIA folder is where you data wrangle, store and manage all your media from each weekend, It is imperative that this is kept well structured and organised.

For consistency, a template has been created in the MEDIA folder.

Simply, right click on the _Template folder and select Duplicate from the drop down menu.

Select inside the duplicate folder (the duplicate folder will have the word copy after it) and rename it according the naming convention:

YYMMDD_FFC_PEEL_RDXX

(Key: Year Month Day_Freemantle Football Club_Peel Thunder_2 Digit Round number)

Inside the Template folder a list of sub folders have been created for you:

Audio - Voice Overs (VO) and any other related audio files to be stored here

Cam_01_H1 - Camera 1(grandstand), card 1 (first half of match)

Cam_01_H2 - Camera 1(grandstand), card 2 (second half of match)

Cam_02_H1 - Camera 2(boundary), card 1 (first half of match)

Cam_02_H2 - Camera 2(boundary), card 2 (second half of match)

Cam_03_H1 - Camera 3(colour/roaming), card 1 (first half of match)

Cam_03_H2 - Camera 3(colour/roaming), card 2 (second half of match)

Documents - All documentation to be stored here

Ensure that the entire contents of each card is copied to the corresponding folder.

One card per folder.

There are no exceptions to these two rules!

Setup a folder for your Premiere project (the edit).

Select the PRP folder.

Right click on the _Template folder and select Duplicate from the drop down menu.

Label that folder accordingly:

YYMMDD_FFC_PEEL_RDXX

Labelling

PRP, MEDIA and EXPORT folders should all be labelled the same for each round - continuity!

Within your new project folder, double click the project file to open Premiere

Once Premiere has opened, go to:

File > Save As...

Label your project file the same as your project folder (for the sake of continuity) + Master_v1

If you have additional editors working with you - once you have imported all your media you can save off another version of the project (Save as... from within Premiere) and add the initials or name of the editor working on that file (instead of the word Master)

Never have the same project file open in more than one location...NEVER!!!

Your project will have all of these bins, sequences and resource elements have been set-up/imported ready to edit!

  Audio - VO's

Extras - any extra unique files eg. atmos tracks, external footage

HL/MR - highlights reel, match report and interview sequences - these will be your final deliverables

Interview - all interview raw media

Q1-Q4 - all footage from correlating quarters

Resources - all Fremantle resources, supers, lower thirds and intro/outros

Select the bin you want to Import media into (In this example it is the first quarter, Q1).

Select the Media Browser tab. Navigate to the location of the first quarter media (which you should have data wrangled to the Cam_01_H1 folder)

Right click on the file(s) you want and select Import

Just the media you need

Just import the footage from the actual game at this point - the clip will usually be around the 30 minute mark

You can always come back for the smaller clips if you feel you need them

The media file will go directly to the Bin which was selected.

Select inside the name and relabel the clip. In each Quarter's Bin you should have three clips:

Q1_C1 - Quarter 1, Camera 1

Q1_C2 - Quarter 1, Camera 2

Q1_C3 - Quarter 1, Camera 3

Take the time to import and label your media efficiently, this will always save an exponential amount of time as the editing process moves forward!

You do not need to keep the .MXF extension
