SCST2009 - iPad - iMovie Export
Below is the guide for exporting your movie out of iMovie on the iPad, and copy the movie file to the Completed Assignment Folder on the server, OR transmit the movie file to Dropbox.
After you have finished editing your film, go to the iMovie main window and load your film.Tap the Share button. | |
Tap the 'Save Video' button from the pop-up menu. | |
Select your export settings. | |
Wait for the movie to finish exporting. When it's finished, tap 'OK'. | |
Manually connect your iPad device to one of the iMacs in the edit suites The app Photos will probably automatically open on the desktop - you can use this to locate and copy your finished movie I find the app Image Capture to be a little more efficient... | |

Image Capture will automatically recognise your iPad Use this interface to locate your movie The last image/movie saved will be at the bottom. Movies saved from iMovie are generally labelled differently - see image Change the Import To location to the Desktop Select Import (or double click the file, this will automatically import) | |
Rename the file on the Desktop | |
Copy and Paste the file onto the Completed Assignments folder | |

Sign In to Wifi/Dropbox PLEASE NOTEYou MUST sign in to Student WiFi on the iPad, and activate/sign-in to Dropbox, in order for the process below to work.Do not forget to SIGN OUT of Dropbox and the WiFi before you return the iPad to the store. | |
Navigate to the 'Photos' app on the iPad. | |
Locate the video file you wish to transmit to Dropbox.Tap the 'Select' button. | |
Tap the video you wish to transmit to select it.Tap the 'Share' button. | |
From the pop-up menu, tap 'Save to Dropbox'. | |
