At various times in the process of completing exercises and productions as part of the Screen Arts course, students may be obliged to incorporate materials created by other people or organizations in their work. These materials may include vision (film or videotape) from existing programs, libraries or archival collections, images such as paintings, drawings, photographs and other illustrations, voice or sound effects recordings and recorded music.


The use of such materials in another project requires appropriate recognition of the source of the material, and payment of any applicable MECHANICAL COPYRIGHT fees. Students must adhere to the legal and ethical requirements in this respect, and all productions submitted for assessment must be accompanied by a detailed record of all such materials used in the project, clearances, and/or payment details.


Any production exercise submitted without the necessary copyright documentation will therefore not be assessed, and the master and all copies of the project will be erased.


In addition, any student who makes or retains a copy of such a project does so without the knowledge or consent of the University, and will therefore be personally liable in the event of any future action taken in relation to the project.
