3.4 - Unsigned Band / Musician / Composer
Chances are that you or someone in your production team knows a musician. If you have decided to engage a musician, there will still need to be some care taken in the way that you use their created work in your film.
You Must Check:
They are not signed to a record label or publishing house.
That the work they have created is original, for instance they haven’t sampled or copied other works.
You must get the composer/performer to sign a Music Release form.
That both parties are clear about the conditions of use of the created work.
Make sure that the composer is aware that the film might be public screened and make sure they have been credited in the film.
