1.1.B - Clearances/Production Ident Slate

In the process of completing some exercises, you may either want, or be required to use material which is not your own; material such as music, sound effects, documents or extracts from books, extracts from films, television programs or any other existing work.

This also includes clearances or permissions to use images and/or voices of actors or people featuring in your work. This should be evident in your script and/or treatment, and should be discussed with your Tutor/Lecturer prior to obtaining project approval.

Not all clearances will be needed prior to shooting, but you should discuss these with the Tutor/Lecturer, who will indicate on your PROJECT APPROVAL FORM whether they are necessary for the project.

When your Tutor/Lecturer has approved your project and identified those clearances or permissions that may be needed, you must take your Project Approval Form to the Support Specialist - Pre-Production. The Support Specialist - Pre-Production will assist you to obtain those clearances required prior to shooting and then monitor your project to ensure that all details are entered on your IDENT SLATE, which must be filled out and INSERTED into your project for your unique Identification. Please remember that your assignment has NOT been completed until you have inserted the IDENT SLATE into your project and failing to do so may result in your assignment not being assessed.
