12. Cyber bullying

When using online tools (including Facebook) or sharing mobile phones numbers to support your work in productions or class please be aware that Curtin University and Theatre Arts expects you to be professional and respectful at all times. Remember that any harassment that comes through the internet or via any other electronic source such as a mobile phone, is called cyber bullying. Please refrain from any of the following behaviours as outlined in Curtin’s Student Conduct brochure. Cyber bullying can include:

  • Spreading untrue rumours
  • Name calling in chat rooms
  • Posting fake profiles on websites
  • Sending cruel text or email messages
  • Distributing private comments or images

Cyber bullying can occur at any time of the day or night and can target a person in a private or public location. Please use these electronic devices to only speak to each other in the spirit of positive collaboration.

If you feel that you have been cyber bullied, report the incident to Student Wellbeing (Hotline: 1800 244 043 / Email: studentwellbeing@curtin.edu.au) or seek assistance from a Guild Student Assist Officer (9266 2900) or Counselling Services (9266 7850 or Freecall: 1800 651 878).]The University will address this issue with the other student/s involved and can provide advice on reporting the incident to Facebook.
