PrP - Working with Audio - Fades and Crossfades

In the Effects tab you will also find Audio Transitions. There are three options:

Constant Gain – changes the audio levels at a constant rate. This does not sound very normal and is rarely used.

Constant Power – use this when doing a crossfade between two clips.

Exponential Fade – Use this when coming up from silence or fading down to silence.

You can perform a Default Transition directly from the timeline by selecting between the edit point of two pieces of audio (or at the end/beginning of an audio track), right click and select 'Apply Default Transition' from the pop-up.

Note

If you right click on one of the fade options (refer to previous image) you can choose the Default Transition. In this instance it is Constant Power (has blue frame around icon)

Video Transition

This is also applicable to applying a video fade/crossfade but you would be selecting between the edit point of two pieces of Video, right clicking and selecting 'Apply Default Transition' from the pop-up.

Soundscape Workshop Exercise #5
