PrP - Working with Audio - Finding Music for your Production

ADDING MUSIC

This is step-by-step guide to auditioning, selecting and adding music to your production.

24-HOURS

Be advised that you MUST register a Beatbox account before you can download tracks, and that it takes 24-hours from you have registered until you can download tracks.

Go to Beatbox Music

You will find the login/sign up in the top right hand corner of the page.

If you are using Beatbox for the first time you will need to sign up. You will need to do this 24 hours before you can download tracks.

A confirmation email will be sent to the email address that you used to sign up with.

Once you have received the email from Beatbox, click 'Login' from the front page.

Login with your Curtin email address and password.

Once logged in you will have access to the music library.

Select an album, or use the search bar on the top to search for titles, genres or keywords.

Once you select an album, the album track window appears.

You can listen to the search results by pressing the play button located on the left next to each track.

The general details of the track will appear within the track.

For more information click the drop down menu button, and select details.

This will open the Track Information window.

You will need this information (Composer, Album, and Track Number) to insert into your Ident Slate.

You will also need to note down the amount (in minutes - mm and seconds - ss) of the track used in your production.

WHAT NEXT?

If this is the track that you would like to download and audition in your production you need to take down the details of the track.

Once you have list of possible tracks take them to production office where they can be downloaded and copied to the server.

This download is done through the university’s official account. With a collection of suitable tracks you choose the one track that you intend to add to your production.

TRACK INFORMATION

Once you have your track and you have added it to your timeline there is some important information that you need to make note of. The following pieces of information are required for Ident Slate that is created using the Slate Generator, and for your production file.

Title: The name of the track Writer/Composer: Name of the writer and/or composer

Catalogue Number: the name and code (if taken from Beatbox) of the album Duration Used: How many minutes and/or seconds of the song used, written out as MM:SS.
