PrP - Noise Reduction via Adobe Audition Dynamic Link
Sometimes your audio might be affected by a constant noise such as air-conditioning, machinery or line-hum from your equipment. Sending your affected audio to Adobe Audition via Dynamic Link can drastically reduce unwanted frequencies while preserving dialogue and diegetic sound.
Open your Adobe Premiere Pro project.
Right-click (or control-click) on the audio you wish to treat. From the menu, select Edit Clip In Adobe Audition.
Adobe Audition will automatically open the selected audio.
Highlight a portion of audio that contains ONLY the sound you wish to reduce or remove.Select Capture Noise Print.Click outside of the highlighted area to ensure the removal spans the entire clip and not just the highlighted area.
A spectragraph of the entire noise floor will appear and you can control how much of this is removed by manipulating both the Noise Reduction and Reduce by sliders and the XY axis itself.A good place to start is to keep Noise Reduction at 60%, Reduce by at 20dB and the XY axis flat.
The Advanced menu contains further adjustments to the noise reduction process though it is recommended to leave these at default, except for Smoothing which can be used to reduce the 'bubbling' effect of extreme noise reduction.
Once you are satisfied with the amount of noise reduction, save your clip and quit Audition. Adobe's Dynamic Link will automatically update the clip in your Premiere Pro project.Tip: Use noise reduction sparingly! Some ambient sound may be necessary and a bubbling effect will result, potentially making the clip sound worse than it was at the start!
